Bartender Quick Start Guide

Everything you need to manage the bar efficiently from day one.

Before Your Shift

Get Set Up

  1. Log in with your credentials
  2. Check you're assigned to Bar station
  3. Review any 86'd items (tap 86'd List)
  4. Verify bar inventory looks correct

Know Your Layout

  • Bar seats appear as a row at the bar station
  • Quick-add buttons for popular drinks
  • Tab list shows all open tabs

Starting Bar Tabs

New Tab with Card

  1. Tap New Tab
  2. Swipe/tap customer's card for pre-auth
  3. Enter customer name
  4. Start adding drinks

New Tab without Card

  1. Tap New TabCash Tab
  2. Enter customer name
  3. Start adding drinks
  4. Collect payment before they leave

Tab Pre-Authorization

  • Cards are pre-authorized for default amount (usually $50-100)
  • Amount doesn't charge until tab closes
  • If tab exceeds pre-auth, system prompts for new authorization

Taking Drink Orders

Quick Add (Fastest)

Use the quick-add buttons at bottom of screen:

  • Tap drink type (Beer, Wine, Cocktail, etc.)
  • Select specific item
  • Modifiers auto-prompt if needed

From Menu

  1. Tap Menu
  2. Select category (Cocktails, Beer, Wine, Spirits)
  3. Tap item
  4. Add modifiers (neat, rocks, up, etc.)

Custom Orders

For off-menu drinks:

  1. Tap Custom Item
  2. Enter name and price
  3. Or use Open Liquor for pours

Common Modifiers

Managing Multiple Tabs

Find a Tab

  • Tap Tabs to see all open tabs
  • Search by name or card last 4 digits
  • Tabs sorted by most recent activity

Switch Between Tabs

  1. Tap different tab from list
  2. Add items to that tab
  3. Switch back as needed

Transfer Items

If customer moves to table:

  1. Open their bar tab
  2. Tap Transfer
  3. Select destination table
  4. Items move to server's ticket

Bar Seat Orders

Seated at Bar

  1. Tap the bar seat number
  2. Start new tab or add to existing
  3. Items linked to that seat

Walk-Up Orders

For quick orders without a tab:

  1. Tap Quick Sale
  2. Add items
  3. Process payment immediately

Processing Payments

Close Out Tab

  1. Find the tab
  2. Tap Close Tab
  3. Card auto-charges final amount
  4. Tip added by customer

Split a Tab

  1. Open the tab
  2. Tap Split
  3. Choose method:
    • Even - Divide equally
    • By Item - Select who pays what
    • By Amount - Enter custom amounts

Comp Drinks

If authorized to comp:

  1. Select item on tab
  2. Tap Comp
  3. Select reason
  4. Manager approval may be required

Void Mistake

  1. Tap the wrong item
  2. Tap Void
  3. Enter reason
  4. Item removed from tab

Voice Commands (Hey Maximus)

Say "Hey Maximus" then:

Common Situations

Tab Pre-Auth Declined

  1. Ask for different card
  2. Or start cash tab
  3. Collect payment before they leave

Customer Disputes Tab Amount

  1. Show itemized tab on screen
  2. Review items with customer
  3. Call manager if unresolved

Forgot to Start Tab

  1. Start tab now
  2. Add items that were served
  3. Timestamps will show when added

Cutting Off a Customer

If you need to cut off a customer, stop adding drinks and notify your manager immediately. Never argue with an intoxicated customer -- let the manager handle the conversation.

  1. Stop adding drinks to their tab
  2. Close tab when ready

ID Check Required

ID Verification

The system prompts for ID verification on alcohol orders. You must check the customer's ID and tap "ID Verified" before proceeding. Never skip this step -- serving a minor can result in criminal charges and loss of the restaurant's liquor license.


End of Shift

Close All Tabs

  1. Check open tabs list
  2. Remind lingering customers
  3. Process remaining tabs
  4. Transfer any dining tabs to servers

Cash Out

  1. Count bar till
  2. Report any overages/shortages
  3. Tip out (if applicable)
  4. Clock out

Inventory Check (if required)

  1. Check liquor levels
  2. Note any bottles to reorder
  3. Complete closing checklist

Speed Tips

  1. Use quick-add buttons - Faster than menu navigation
  2. Voice commands while pouring - "Hey Maximus, add vodka soda to seat 3"
  3. Pre-auth all cards - Avoids walkouts
  4. Name tabs clearly - Easy to find later
  5. Check 86'd list - Don't promise unavailable items

Quick Reference

New tab: New Tab → Swipe card → Name → Add drinks

Add drink: Quick-add OR Menu → Item → Modifiers

Close tab: Tab → Close Tab → Tip → Done

Voice: "Hey Maximus" + command
