Restaurant Revolution supports:
- Physical gift cards - Scannable plastic cards
- Digital gift cards - Email/SMS delivery with QR code
- Store credit - From refunds or manual issuance
- Multi-location - Balances work at any location
Selling Gift Cards
Physical Gift Cards
- Tap Gift Card > Sell New
- Scan the card barcode or enter manually
- Enter amount ($10 - $500)
- Customer pays any method
- Card is activated automatically
- Receipt prints with balance
Digital Gift Cards
- Tap Gift Card > Send Digital
- Select amount or preset ($25, $50, $100)
- Enter recipient:
- Email address
- Or phone number
- Add personal message (optional)
- Choose delivery:
- Send now
- Schedule for later (birthday, holiday)
- Customer pays
- Gift card sent to recipient

Checking Balance
Quick Balance Check
- Tap Gift Card > Check Balance
- Scan card or enter number
- Balance displays immediately
Customer Self-Service
Customers can check at:
- Restaurant website
- Customer app
- Calling the restaurant
- On their digital card (real-time)
Redeeming Gift Cards
Full Redemption
When order total ≤ gift card balance:
- Complete order
- Tap Pay > Gift Card
- Scan card or enter number
- Full amount applied
- Remaining balance (if any) shown on receipt
Partial Redemption
When order total > gift card balance:
- Complete order
- Tap Pay > Gift Card
- Scan card
- Balance applied to order
- Remaining due shown
- Customer pays balance with another method
- Receipt shows gift card amount used
Split Tender with Gift Card
Combine gift card with other payments:

Store Credit
What is Store Credit?
Balance given to customer from:
- Refund converted to credit
- Manager comp/goodwill
- Issue resolution
Issuing Store Credit
- Go to Gift Card > Issue Store Credit
- Enter customer (name/email/phone)
- Enter amount
- Select reason:
- Refund conversion
- Manager goodwill
- Service recovery
- Other (note required)
- Approve (manager PIN if required)
- Customer notified via email/SMS
Redeeming Store Credit
- At checkout, tap Pay > Store Credit
- Enter customer email or phone
- Available credit shown
- Apply to order
- Remaining credit (if any) stays on account

Multi-Location Support
Balance Sharing
Gift card balances are shared across all restaurant locations. A card purchased at one location can be redeemed at any other.
Gift cards work at any location:
Card purchased: Downtown location
Card redeemed: Airport location
Balance: Shared across all locations
Reporting by Location
Managers can view:
- Cards sold per location
- Cards redeemed per location
- Net gift card liability per location
Handling Issues
Card Not Working
- Verify card number is correct
- Check if card is activated
- Verify balance remaining
- If still failing:
- Try manual entry
- Contact manager
Lost Physical Card
- Customer provides proof of purchase
- Manager looks up by:
- Original receipt
- Card number (if known)
- Purchase date/amount
- Can issue replacement or transfer balance
Lost Digital Card
- Customer provides email/phone
- Look up by delivery info
- Resend the digital card
- Or transfer to new email
Disputed Balance
- Look up transaction history
- Review all redemptions
- Show customer the activity
- Escalate to manager if needed
Fraud Prevention
Suspicious Activity
Watch for signs of gift card fraud: multiple high-value purchases, immediate redemption after purchase, or different people redeeming than purchasing. Alert a manager if anything seems unusual -- do not refuse service unless instructed.
