Daily Display Checks

Opening Tasks

When you arrive:

  1. Visual Check

    • All displays powered on
    • Content displaying correctly
    • No error messages showing
    • Brightness appropriate
  2. Status Check (if you have access)

    • Open Staff App → Displays
    • Verify all show "Online"
    • Report any offline displays

During Shift

Monitor for:

  • Frozen screens
  • Incorrect content
  • Display errors
  • Brightness issues

Closing Tasks

Before leaving:

  • Ensure displays in night mode (if applicable)
  • Report any issues noticed during shift
  • Don't power off unless instructed

How to Report

  1. Open Staff App
  2. Go to Displays
  3. Select the problem display
  4. Tap Report Issue
  5. Choose issue type
  6. Add details if needed
  7. Submit

Quick Troubleshooting

Before reporting, try:

  1. Check power cable - securely connected
  2. Check network - light blinking on player
  3. Soft restart - if you have access to remote

86'd Items & Display Updates

How 86'd Items Work

When you 86 an item:

  1. Mark item as 86'd in POS
  2. Display updates within 5 seconds
  3. Item hidden from menu boards
  4. No manual update needed

When Item Returns

When you un-86 an item:

  1. Remove 86 status in POS
  2. Item reappears on displays automatically

Checking Display Updates

If you need to verify:

  1. Look at the display
  2. Compare to POS menu
  3. Items should match

Daypart Transitions

Understanding Dayparts

Menus change automatically based on time:

Times may vary by location

During Transitions

  • Transition happens automatically
  • Takes about 10-15 seconds
  • You may see brief loading
  • No action needed from you

Transition Issues

If menu doesn't switch:

  1. Wait 2 minutes
  2. Check display status
  3. If still wrong, report issue

Order Status Display

How It Works

For pickup/order ready displays:

  1. Guest orders → Number appears
  2. Kitchen finishes → Moves to "Ready"
  3. Guest picks up → Number clears

If Status Display Is Wrong

Contact manager if:

  • Orders not appearing
  • Orders stuck on screen
  • Ready orders not clearing

Drive-Thru Displays

Special Considerations

Drive-thru boards:

  • Higher brightness for outdoor visibility
  • Simplified menu for quick decisions
  • May have different daypart times
  • Weather can affect visibility

If guests ask about display content, direct them to the manager or note feedback.

"Why did the menu just change?"

"Our digital boards update automatically throughout the day to show the current menu."


Emergency Procedures

Display Showing Inappropriate Content

  1. Immediately report to manager
  2. If manager unavailable, power off display if accessible
  3. Do not post about it on social media
  4. Document what was shown

All Displays Go Dark

  1. Check if power outage (other equipment too?)
  2. If just displays, check network
  3. Report to manager
  4. Continue operations - use printed backup menus if available

Fire/Emergency

  • Leave displays as-is
  • Follow evacuation procedures
  • Displays are not priority during emergencies

Tips for Staff

Be Observant

  • Notice display issues as you work
  • Report problems early
  • Note when issues started

Help Guests

  • If guest confused by display, offer assistance
  • Point out where items are located
  • Explain current promotions if asked

  • Most display issues fix themselves
