Server Sections & Table Management

The Floor Management system in Olympus aROS provides a visual interface for defining dining areas and managing server assignments. This feature uses AI to balance workloads, ensuring fairness in cover counts and tip opportunities across your staff.

Feature Overview

Managing a busy floor requires real-time awareness. This system replaces whiteboards and mental math with:

  • Visual Section Editor: Drag-and-drop tools to define areas like "Patio", "Bar", or "Main Dining".
  • Smart Assignment: Drag-and-drop interface to assign servers to sections for a specific shift.
  • Fairness Algorithms: AI that tracks live sales and cover counts to suggest the "Next Up" server for new guests.

For Managers: Configuration

Creating Floor Sections

  1. Navigate to Admin Dashboard > Floor Management.
  2. Toggle the switch to Edit Mode.
  3. Select the Draw Tool. Click and drag to outline a group of tables.
  4. In the popup, configure the section:
    • Name: e.g., "Patio A".
    • Capacity: Set a max cover count (e.g., "20 covers") to prevent overloading.
    • Color Code: Choose a distinct color for easy identification on the live map.
  5. Click Save Layout.

Assigning Servers to Sections

Before a shift begins:

  1. Open Shift Command.
  2. You will see a list of clocked-in servers on the left.
  3. Drag and drop a server's name card onto a Section Card.
    • Smart Alert: If a server is assigned to a section that exceeds their configured "Skill Cap" (e.g., a trainee on a 10-table section), the system will display a warning.

For Servers: My Tables View

Viewing Assignments

When you log in to the POS:

  1. Navigate to the Floor Plan tab.
  2. Your assigned tables will appear highlighted (brighter) while others are dimmed.
  3. Toggle the "My Tables" filter at the top to hide unassigned tables completely.

The Recommendation Queue ("Next Up")

To ensure fairness, the system calculates who should take the next walk-in table:

  1. Look for the Rotation Queue in the sidebar.
  2. The server at the top of the list is "Next Up".
  3. The list updates in real-time based on:
    • Covers Today: Balancing total guest count.
    • Current Load: How many active tables typically.
    • Fairness Score: A weighted metric ensuring everyone gets a fair shot at sales.
  4. When you are "Next Up", your name will pulse green.
