Drive-Thru Management
The Drive-Thru module helps managers maximize throughput, reduce wait times, and deliver a consistent guest experience across every lane.
Lane Configuration
Define the physical layout of your drive-thru — single lane, dual lane, or Y-split configurations. Each lane is independently tracked for speed-of-service metrics.
- Lane assignment links each order point, payment window, and pickup window to a lane
- Menu board mapping connects digital signage content to specific order points
- Sensor integration uses vehicle detection sensors or camera-based detection to time each segment
Speed-of-Service Metrics
Real-time dashboards display the key timing segments that make up the total drive-thru experience:
| Metric | Description | Target |
|---|---|---|
| Greet Time | Vehicle arrival to first staff greeting | Under 5 seconds |
| Order Time | Greeting to order completion | Under 60 seconds |
| Payment Time | Order window to payment complete | Under 30 seconds |
| Pickup Time | Payment to food handoff | Under 45 seconds |
| Total Time | Arrival to departure | Under 3 minutes |
Metrics are broken down by daypart, lane, and staff member so managers can identify specific bottlenecks.
Voice AI Ordering
Enable the Hey Maximus voice AI assistant at the order point to take orders conversationally. The system handles upselling, allergen questions, and order confirmation — then hands off to kitchen prep automatically.
- Natural language understanding supports complex modifications and combos
- Escalation to a human operator happens seamlessly when confidence is low
- Voice AI performance metrics are tracked alongside human operator metrics
Peak Hour Optimization
The AI engine analyzes historical traffic patterns to recommend staffing levels and station assignments for peak periods. Managers receive:
- Predicted car counts by 15-minute interval
- Suggested station staffing for each lane segment
- Menu simplification alerts when predicted volume exceeds kitchen capacity
- Pre-staging recommendations for high-frequency items
Digital Menu Board Integration
Drive-thru menu boards update dynamically based on time of day, inventory availability, and AI-driven promotional strategies. Out-of-stock items are automatically hidden, and high-margin items are promoted during slower periods.
